The Stockholm International School (SIS) is excited to host the Nordic Network 2025 Badminton Tournament in Stockholm on The 23rd of May

Tournament Format and Rules

The tournament will happen from Friday morning, May 2nd from 8:15 until 16:00

The final game schedule will be provided HERE no later than 21 of May

KEY DATES

● May 20th - Players rankings submitted HERE

Tournament

The tournament follows a round-robin format, meaning each team/player competes against all others in their category, played best out of 3, set of 11 points (the first player to reach 15 points wins, no two points marginal)

Min 8 players, with 4 girls and 4 boys, max 5+5 .

The tournament consists of 7 events(games per age level)

Juniors (MYP1-3)

Event 1 : Boys singles #1 seeded

Event 2 : Girls singles #1 seeded

Event 3 : Boys singles #2

Event 4 : Girls singles #2

Event 5 : Boys doubles

Event 6 : Girls doubles

Event 7: Mixed Doubles

Seniors (MYP4-5)

Event 1 : Boys singles #1 seeded

Event 2 : Girls singles #1 seeded

Event 3 : Boys singles #2

Event 4 : Girls singles #2

Event 5 : Boys doubles

Event 6 : Girls doubles

Event 7: Mixed Doubles

Nordic Network BADMINTON Rules

*Players referee their games- score official is there to settle any disputes

*Decide who starts a match by hitting the shuttle high in the air and see which side it is pointing to once it lands on the court

*Otherwise, normal Badminton rules & regulations

‘Handshakes both before and after each match

*Fair-play and sportsmanship are most important!

*Coaches decide which player plays in each of the matches as long as you don't play your number one-seeded player or top player with the number two-seeded event

*All of the players should get an equal amount of playing time in the tournament

Points & Standings:

Points are recorded in Stadiumcompete software and are visible live in the following link.

Tournament is played in round robin format.

Tiebreaker Rules:

If two players have the same number of wins:

Head-to-head result (who won in their direct match).

Total sets/games won (if applicable).

Point differential (total points scored - total points conceded).

*Players must report their score to the official's desk in between two courts after each of the matches ends

CODE OF CONDUCT: EXPECTATIONS OF PLAYERS, COACHES, ADULTS AND SPECTATORS:

Remember that ALL children play sport for fun - they are not playing for your entertainment, nor are they professionals.

Encourage players to participate, do not force them.

Focus on the players’ efforts - never ridicule or yell at a player for making a mistake or losing the game.

Remember that players learn best from example. Applaud good play by both teams.

Encourage players to always participate according to the rules and respect officials decisions.

Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches and officials.

An umpire’s job is a difficult one – put yourself in their position – how would you like to be treated?

Verbal abuse to umpires, officials or other players is not acceptable.

If you disagree with an official, raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than question the officials judgement and honesty in public.

Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not harassing or using foul language to umpires, players, coaches, or other spectators.

Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players.

Respect the rights and dignity of every player regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

Discuss the Codes of Conduct with Staff, Students and Guardians so that you are all aware of your obligations.

Control your temper - treat others as you would like to be treated – bullying will not be tolerated.

Co-operate, support and encourage your teammates. Your team's performance will benefit and so will you
